What each score means
0 – 3.9Not landing
The photo works against you. Harsh light or clutter, and a retake fixes most of it.
4 – 5.4Below the line
The pieces are there, but something holds it back. One or two changes will lift it.
5.5 – 6.9Solid
Around the middle of the curve. A good photo that does not quite own the frame.
7 – 8.4Mogging
Real presence. Light, style and expression are all pulling in the same direction.
8.5 – 10Rare air
Very hard to reach on a strict scale. Everything in the shot works, and it shows.
These ranges are a reading guide. The score itself is an AI read of one photo, made for entertainment.
The Mogg curve
The percentage next to your score
Next to every score Mogg shows a percentage, the Mogg curve. It is derived from the score with a fixed S-shaped curve centred on 5.5, so small gains near the middle move it a lot and gains near the top move it a little. A 5.5 shows 50 percent, a 7 about 84 percent, and an 8.5 about 96 percent. Try any score in the mog calculator.
Strict on purpose
Why most photos score 5 to 7
Mogg scores strictly, so the numbers mean something. An ordinary good photo lands around the middle, a 7 has to earn it, and 8.5 and up is rare. That is why a 6 on Mogg is a solid photo, not a failing one, and why a jump of half a point is worth chasing.
The score reads one photo, not the person in it. The same face can sit in two different ranges on two different shots, which is exactly what the mog meter uses to find your best one.
Level up
Climbing the scale, range by range
- Up to 5: remove what works against you, like harsh light or clutter.
- 5 to 6: one clear subject, a cleaner and quieter background.
- 6 to 7: the details, like expression, fit and the camera angle.
- 7 to 8.5: everything at once. Rare, and that is the point.

FAQ
Questions, answered
What is a good score on the mog scale?
The middle of the scale is 5.5, and most decent everyday photos land between 5 and 7. A 7 or higher is mogging, and 8.5 and up is rare.
Can a photo score a 10?
In theory. A 10 needs everything in the shot to work at once, and on a strict scale that almost never happens. Treat 8.5 and up as the top of the scale in practice.
Is a 6 a bad score?
No. On a strict scale a 6 is a solid photo that sits just above the middle. It is good, it just does not stand out yet.
Do Solo Rate and Squad Roast use the same scale?
Yes. Both score on the same strict 0 to 10 scale, so the ranges on this page apply to every score you get.
