The elder scale
What the PSL scale is
PSL came first. It takes its name from three online forums where it took shape, PUAHate, Sluthate and Lookism, all of them now closed. Today it is the shared shorthand of looksmaxxing, and the scale many rating apps and calculators use.
In its most cited form, PSL rates a face from 1 to 8 (some versions start at 0). A 4 is the middle, an 8 means a perfection nobody reaches, and each point is about one standard deviation, the step size of a bell curve. No official body stands behind it. It is a community convention, so sources differ on the details.
Rating by rating
What each PSL rating means
1 – 1.4Sub3the bottom ~1%
Under PSL 1.5: about the bottom 1 percent of the bell curve.
1.5 – 3.4LTNlow-tier normie, below the middle
PSL 1.5 to 3.4: low-tier normie, below the middle, about the 1st to the 31st percentile.
3.5 – 4.9MTNmid-tier normie, the middle
PSL 3.5 to 4.9: mid-tier normie, the middle of the curve, about the 31st to the 84th percentile.
5 – 5.9HTNhigh-tier normie, above the middle
PSL 5.0 to 5.9: high-tier normie, above the middle, about the 84th to the 98th percentile.
6 – 6.9Chadlitetop ~2%
PSL 6.0 to 6.9: about the top 2 percent.
7 – 8Chadtop ~0.1%
PSL 7 and up: about the top 0.1 percent, and rarer the higher it goes.
These shares come from the bell-curve model in the forums' own rating guides, not from measuring real faces. Mogg uses the forums' own tier words and cutoffs, from Sub3 to Chad, for where one photo's score lands on that curve. The Mogg Score keeps its own words (Solid, Mogging and the rest) on the Mog Scale.
Chad, PSL 7 and up, sits past the top of a photo score. A Mogg Score converts to at most 6.6, so Chadlite is as high as a Mogg result goes. Even there, the number describes one photo at one moment, which is why the same person can land a tier apart on two different shots.
Two scales, one rank
How a Mogg Score converts to PSL
The two scales read different things. PSL rates a face. The Mogg Score rates one photo across 10 parts, seven of them things you can change. So no formula turns one into the other. What they can share is rank.
Mogg lines them up with equipercentile linking, the standard way to put two tests with different scales side by side. We took a week of real Solo Rate scans, thousands of them, and measured what share scored below each Mogg Score. Then we found the PSL number with the same share below it on PSL's bell curve. About 85 percent of scans score below 7.0, and on PSL's curve 85 percent sits at 5.1, so a Mogg 7.0 is a PSL 5.1.

Between those points the PSL value is read off a straight line. Past them, the line carries on gently, so even a perfect 10 converts to 6.6: a photo score can't claim the very top of a scale built for faces. Here is every half point, the same numbers your result shows.

Friends, not rivals
Why Mogg shows both numbers
Mogg doesn't replace PSL or compete with it. PSL gives a lot of people a shared language. The Mogg Score adds what one photo is doing, and the full read says how to move it. The PSL number and tier translate between the two, right under every Solo Rate score and on the share card.
The mog scale guide explains the Mogg side range by range, and the mog rating guide shows the 10 parts. Mogg scores your photo; its plan only covers what you can change, and neither number says anything about your worth.
